Earn 2,500 Bonus Miles With The AAdvantage Aviator

My First AAdvantage Aviator Silver Bonus Mile Offer

Oh yes, we are all pleasantly surprised.

When I received my AAdvantage Aviator Red card last year, I was offered a few bonus AAdvantage miles deals. Some of them actually made sense at the time. After upgrading to the Aviator Silver card all bonus mile offers stopped. I think this coincided with my increase in spend to get the 10,000 bonus EQMs. It worked out last year and again this year.

After obtaining my bonus EQMs I taper off my spend and shift to other cards. I guess Barclays is paying attention and wants to entice me to continue to put spend on the card because today I received an offer for up to 2,500 bonus miles with spend on three categories:

  • Gas
  • Restaurants
  • Home Improvement

I think it might be a hard sell with the first two. I already have two cards that I use for gas and restaurants. Home improvement is not a big priority for me right now. Ultimately, I think its a step in the right direction and at least Barclays puts their product back out there for the customer to use.

I think a lot of companies are catching on. By adding an ‘activate’ button, they are gaining additional metrics on customers that will or will not take the offer.

2,500 Bonus Miles

Your AAdvantage® Aviator™ Silver MasterCard® gives you the power to explore and discover as much of the world as you wish. From April 1 through June 30, 2016, you can earn 2 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles for every $1 spent when you use your card for eligible gas, restaurant and home improvement store purchases, up to 2,500 bonus miles.

2,500 bonus miles
Here are the categories you can earn 2 points/$1.

Best of all, this is in addition to the miles you already earn for using your card for everyday purchases.

You must activate this limited-time offer by May 30, 2016 to be eligible to earn bonus miles. The bonus miles will be applied to your account 6 to 8 weeks after the promotion ends.

After doing a little research I discovered that this is not limited to the Aviator Silver. From the website, Michael W Travels, there’s an article that talks about the same offer for Aviator Red (Up To 2500 Bonus Miles w/ AAdvantage Aviator Red Card).

Terms and Conditions:

This bonus offer is for select AAdvantage® Aviator™ Silver MasterCard® cardmembers and is not transferable. If you close your AAdvantage® Aviator™ Silver MasterCard® account or switch to another product during the promotional period, you will no longer be eligible for this promotion or any miles that you may have accrued. Qualified cardmembers who activate by May 30, 2016, will earn 2 bonus miles for every one dollar ($1) in new eligible purchase(s) at gas stations, restaurants, fast food restaurants, and home improvement stores, that are not later returned or rescinded and that post to their account between April 1, 2016, and June 30, 2016, up to a maximum of 2,500 bonus miles. Eligible purchases are defined by merchant category codes. Each merchant designates a category code to assign to purchases at its establishment. Although most gas stations, restaurants, fast food restaurants, and home improvement stores will use merchant category codes selected for this offer, it is possible that some have designated a merchant category code that is not classified as such and therefore any purchases made will not qualify for the promotion. To be eligible for this offer and to receive the bonus miles, the cardmember’s account must be open, activate and in good standing. Purchases made during periods when the cardmember’s account is delinquent, their balance exceeds their credit line or their account is otherwise not in good standing do not qualify for this offer. The bonus miles will appear on the cardmember’s statement 6-8 weeks after the end of the promotion.Barclays AAdvantage Aviator Silver Offer
